Higher Secondary Education (General Machinist – Vocational) 

Foundation:
The Department of School Education and Literacy, a department under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has introduced Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and has already been subsumed in Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme with effect from 01-04-2013. The National Vocational Education Qualifications Framework (NVEQF) is a descriptive Framework that organises qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge along with skills. These levels are defined in terms of learning outcomes i.e. the competencies which a learner must possess regardless of whether they were acquired through formal, non formal or informal education and training.
Overview:
General Machinist incorporates Engineering Drawing, Workshop Engineering, theoretical part of General Machinist. It also consists of Filing Work, Lathe Work and Fitting Work. The different subjects like lathe, drilling machine, shaping machine, milling machine, the various equipments, welding, and maintenance prepare the students for a professional career in the Engineering sector. Vocational education endeavours to prepare skilled persons for identified vocations/trades as per demand of emerging economy, industry/employers in various trades, which would include both the organized and un-organized sectors.
Career Prospects:
Machinists and tool and die makers set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools. Machinists and tool and die makers work in machine shops, tool rooms and factories. Workers with computer skills who can perform multiple tasks in a machine shop will have the best job opportunities.

Higher Secondary Education (Arts – Vocational)

Overview:
Higher Secondary Examination (12th standard examination) is a centralised examination for class 12 students. All the School Education Boards conduct exams during the period of March–April every year for students in their affiliated private and public schools. Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu Council has been designed based on National Education Policy -1986, National Curriculum Framework-2005 and Notification of Home Affairs of Government of India-1952.
Career Prospects:
Higher Secondary Education is mandatory and should be passed, if a candidate wants to join a degree course. Our main aim of promoting Higher Secondary Education is to make the students self-sufficient and give them completeness in School Education.  We have plans to eradicate school dropouts; students who have experience, but not certification. Our goal is to make them gain basic knowledge which would be helpful in their day-to-day activities and also in their jobs and promotions.
Arts group is meant for students who wish to pursue a career in art oriented fields like Economics, History or Languages like English. Since, some of the jobs just require a pass in 12^th Standard, it will be helpful for students who seek a good private job with basic qualification. Also, this course will be helpful to study further in certain Universities in Distance Mode.

Overview:
The Open Basic Education has been implemented by Tamilnadu Council for Open and Distance Learning (TCODL) with aim of providing primary and upper primary level education through alternate means of Open Schooling to those who are not able to go to a formal school or have dropped out of school.
Educational Prospects:
The Open Basic Education Programme for Fifth Standard aims to fulfil the basic educational needs of children and to prevent students from becoming school dropouts.
Eligibility:
No requirement of any academic qualification. Students of 10 years or more who can read and write English/Tamil or Regional Language are eligible to get admission in this course.
Duration: One Year
Fee: Registration Fee:  INR 5,00 and Course Fee: INR 1,500 per annum

Overview:
The Preparatory Programme has been launched for people who have not finished 8^th Standard but who would like to appear for 10^th Standard Examinations at Tamilnadu Council for Open and Distance Learning. The details of the programme are as follows.

Career Prospects:
The Preparatory Programme makes a person who is ineligible for any job is made to qualify in terms of education with better prospects by making he/she to qualify to appear in X Standard.

Eligibility:
No requirement of any academic qualification. Students of 18 years or more who can read and write English/Tamil or Regional Language are eligible to get admission in this course.
Duration:  One Year
Course Fee: Rs.2500/- Exam Fee: Rs 1000/-
