Post Graduate Diploma in Learning Disability

OVERVIEW

The Post Graduate Diploma in Learning Disability is a specialised professional programme designed to develop competent educators, therapists, and support professionals capable of identifying, assessing, and addressing learning disabilities in children and adolescents. The programme integrates foundations of psychology, child development, educational assessment, behaviour management, and remedial teaching with a strong emphasis on inclusive and learner-centred practices.

Grounded in contemporary research and evidence-based interventions, the course equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to understand the cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioural needs of children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Emphasis is placed on early identification, individualised educational planning, and the use of appropriate instructional and behavioural strategies to enhance learning outcomes.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Successful completion of the Post Graduate Diploma in Learning Disability opens up diverse career opportunities in educational, clinical, and community-based settings. Graduates may work as Learning Disability Educators, Remedial Teachers, Resource Teachers, or Special Educators in schools following inclusive education models.

They may also find employment in special schools, child guidance clinics, educational therapy centres, rehabilitation centres, and non-governmental organisations working in the areas of child development and special education.
