Overview

The Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam is an advanced postgraduate programme designed for serious learners who seek artistic excellence, scholarly depth, and professional mastery in the classical dance tradition of Bharatanatyam. Rooted in India’s ancient aesthetic and philosophical heritage, the programme integrates advanced performance practice, theoretical scholarship, research orientation, and creative choreography.

This programme treats Bharatanatyam as a performing art, cultural text, and academic discipline, enabling learners to evolve as performers, educators, choreographers, and researchers.

The M.A. Bharatanatyam programme aims to:

• Attain advanced proficiency in Bharatanatyam technique and repertoire
• Develop deep theoretical understanding of classical dance texts and traditions
• Train students in abhinaya, improvisation, and choreography
• Cultivate research aptitude and critical thinking in performing arts
• Prepare learners for teaching, performance leadership
