ELECTRICIAN:
OVERVIEW
An electrician is a trades person specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, stationary machines, and related equipment. Electricians may be employed in the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. Electricians may also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile platforms, as well as data and cable. This course will enable one to know how to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Electricians can find work in a variety of settings, including power companies, construction firms and private businesses. Earning an electrician degree or certification can prepare a student to work as a general or maintenance electrician, or in electrical installation and repair. Electricians can work with wiring, electrical equipment and component installation in factories, offices and homes. They also work with electrical systems, including heating, air conditioning, lighting and power systems, as well as communications and security systems
