Elementary Education (D.EL.Ed)

OVERVIEW:

Elementary Education – Student teaching provides a teacher with an opportunity to understand all dimensions of teaching and to apply what they have learned through coursework and field experiences leading up to the student teaching experience. All participants in the student teaching program–teacher candidate, cooperating teacher, school administrator, and University supervisor–play important roles in establishing the environment in which the teacher candidate can demonstrate his or her ability to assume the responsibilities of a full-time Elementary Teacher.

B.Ed – it’s an International Standard of Education
OVERVIEW: (B.Ed in Distance Mode)
B.Ed stands for an undergraduate academic course known as Baccalaureate of Education(B.Ed). It is a course offered for those who are interested in pursuing career in teaching and related fields. Baccalaureate of Education (B.Ed) Course can also be pursued through Correspondence or Distance Learning which is generally of 1 Year duration. While students from Arts Stream are trained to teach subjects like History, Civics, Geography and Languages. The students from Science Stream are trained to teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The B.Ed. degree course is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. 

CAREER PROSPECTS:
There is a shortage of about 1.2 million teachers at the primary and middle levels and about two lakh at secondary level (i.e. classes 9 and 10), according to official data, suggesting the huge demand for B.Ed and other teacher training courses. These shortages should be seen in the context of the Right to Education Act which lays down the teacher-pupil ratio of 1:30 and prescribes strict standards of recruitment of teachers.
